Dublin Core Elements
Dublin Core is a standard to create metadata for resources in general, not only geographic information. This standard contains 15 elements, 11 of which correspond to ISO Core elements, whilst the other 4 have been compiled in the IDENA profile.
- Contributor: Contributor (corresponding to the Credits element of the ISO 19115): Recognition of the people that have contributed in one way or another to creating or modifying the data (providing economic means, work, support, etc...).
- Relation: Relation (corresponding to the information
adding element in ISO 19115): Relation to a related resource. The provided information is as follows:
- Information on the added dataset.
- Mentioning the information on the added dataset.
- Type of association for the added dataset.
- Type of initiative under which the added dataset has been produced.
- Rights: Rights Management
(corresponding to the Constrictions Information / Legal Restrictions element):
- Access restrictions aimed at assuring protection of privacy or intellectual property and any special restrictions or limitations to obtain the resource.
- Restrictions for use: in this case, any danger or risk that might occur when using the data is also considered.
- Other legal restrictions or prerequisites to access and use the data.
- Legal restrictions:
- Classification: type of restriction applied to the resource (choose from the controlled list).
- Description: Additional information on the restrictions applied to the data.
- Type: Type (corresponding to the hierarchy level element): Nature or sort of resource content. The type includes terms that describe general categories, functions, genders or added levels for the content. This element is also useful to determine whether a resource is added data or not, and if so, what adding level it corresponds to (whether it is a series or a sheet, a dataset or an object, an attribute, etc...).
